Leak Saver FAQ and Technical Information

NOTE: This product will only seal small leaks where the refrigerant charge in the system lasts at least 7 days. Use only as directed.

STEP 1: Turn the system on and make sure the compressor is running. If it is a heat pump, make sure it is in COOLING mode. BEFORE ANY OTHER CONNECTION, IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIRST connect the female fitting of the LEAK SAVER to the Low Side Service Port of the system. 

STEP 2: Make sure both valves on the manifold are closed. Connect the High Side Hose (Red) to the High Side Service Port. Briefly open the High Side Manifold Valve to purge the hoses and then quickly connect the Center Hose (Yellow) to male fitting of the LEAK SAVER.  

STEP 3: Briefly open the High Side Manifold Valve to inject the LEAK SAVER into the system. As soon as the tube is clear, close the High Side Manifold Valve. Wait one minute for the gauges to equalize and then disconnect the empty LEAK SAVER tube and discard or recycle. Let the system run for at least ONE HOUR to allow sealant to fully circulate.

STEP 3: Briefly open the Low Side Manifold Valve to inject the LEAK SAVER into the system. As soon as the tube is clear, close the Low Side Manifold Valve. Wait one minute for the gauges to equalize and then disconnect the empty LEAK SAVER tube and discard or recycle. Let the system run for at least ONE HOUR to allow sealant to fully circulate.

STEP 1: Turn the system on and make sure the air conditioner compressor is running. BEFORE ANY OTHER CONNECTION, IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIRST connect the female fitting of the LEAK SAVER to the Low Side Car Adapter. Connect the Low Side Car Adapter to the Low Side A/C Service Port of the car. 

STEP 2: Make sure both valves on the manifold are closed. Connect the Center Hose (Yellow) to the refrigerant tank. Briefly purge the hoses and connect the Low Side Hose (Blue) to the male end of the Leak Saver. 

STEP 3: Briefly open the Low Side Manifold Valve to inject the LEAKSAVER into the system. As soon as the tube is clear, close the Low Side Manifold Valve. Wait one minute for the gauges to equalize and then disconnect the empty LEAK SAVER tube and discard or recycle. Let the system run for 30 MINUTES TO ONE HOUR to allow product to fully circulate.

NOTE: You can also use refrigerant can with a can tap to push the Leak Saver into the system. However, it must have a 1/4” hose to connect to the male end of the Leak Saver.

To install the LEAK SAVER with the LEAK SHOT Injection

Gun, simply connect the gun to the Leak Saver and inject

directly into the Low Side Service Port of your air conditioner.

Inject only enough CO2 to empty the LEAK SAVER

tube. Let the system run at least 30 MINUTES for cars and

60 MINUTES for HVAC systems to circulate the product.

NOTE: The LEAK SHOT can ONLY be used with the Leak

Shot Refrigerant Grade CO2 Refill Cartridges. Other CO2

cartridges may NOT function with the Leak Shot Injection

Gun and may CONTAMINATE your A/C system.

To install the LEAK SAVER with the LEAK SHOT Injection

Gun, simply connect the gun to the Leak Saver and inject

directly into the Low Side Service Port of your air conditioner.

Inject only enough CO2 to empty the LEAK SAVER

tube. Let the system run at least 30 MINUTES for cars and

60 MINUTES for HVAC systems to circulate the product.

NOTE: The LEAK SHOT can ONLY be used with the Leak

Shot Refrigerant Grade CO2 Refill Cartridges. Other CO2

cartridges may NOT function with the Leak Shot Injection

Always wear personal safety protection (protective glasses, gloves, etc). Do not bend, cut or deform Leak Saver tube. Do not let refrigerant spray on your skin. It may cause frostbite. DO NOT INGEST THE LEAK SAVER.

WARNING Flammable liquid and vapor. Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye irritation. May cause respiratory irritation. May cause drowsiness or diziness. Suspected of damaging the unborn child. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. 

PREVENTION: Do NOT handle or use this product until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, or hot surfaces. NO SMOKING! Keep container tightly closed. Make sure equipment is properly grounded. Use only explosion proof electrical/ventilation/lighting equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Protect against static discharge - Take Precautionary measures. Wash thoroughly after handling. Use ONLY in a well-ventilated area. Do NOT breathe mist or vapor! Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye and face protection. RESPONSE: INHALATION: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Call a poison center/doctor if you feel unwell. EYE CONTACT: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention. IN CASE OF FIRE: Use appropriate measures to extinguish fire. STORAGE: Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep cool. Store locked up. DISPOSAL: Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations. WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The Leak Saver functions similarly to how the blood in your body seals a small injury. After injection, the Leak Saver sealant travels throughout your air conditioner system with the refrigerant to find small leaks. Our sealant reacts with the air and moisture at the leak site to form a permanent seal. The Leak Saver is able to seal small refrigerant leaks where the complete charge is not lost within 7 days.

The Leak Saver is compatible with the all refrigerant based air conditioner and refrigeration systems including:

HVAC Systems: Window Air Conditioners, Ductless Mini-Splits, Split Central Air Conditioners, Packaged Units, VRF Systems, Chillers, and more.

The Leak Saver is compatible with all refrigerants except Ammonia. Compatible refrigerants include: R410A Freon, 134A, R22, R404, R507, R290, R600A, and more. 

The Leak Saver is safe for all types of coils, expansion valves, and manifold gauges.

The Leak Saver will seal small leaks in systems where the full refrigerant charge is not lost within 7 days. 

We have heard of clients sealing large 48 hour leaks with our product; however, it is about a 50% chance that it will work.

We measure a leak's size by time instead of diameter. We do this because we do not believe it is practical (or possible) to physically measure a pinhole leak in the field. The easiest and most practical way to determine a leak size is by how long it takes for the refrigerant to leak out.  

Yes. You will also need an Automotive Low Side Quick Coupler (connects to the female end of the Leak Saver) and a manifold gauge with 1/4" hoses (connects to the male end). 

Alternatively, you can use our Leak Shot Automotive injection kit.

To use with a refrigerant can with can tap, you will need to make sure your hose has a 1/4" connector to connect to the male end.

The Leak Saver is compatible with all refrigerants except Ammonia. Compatible refrigerants include: R410A Freon, 134A, R22, R404, R507, R290, R600A, and more. 

Our product is compatible with all refrigeration oils.

Yes!

The Leak Saver does not degrade in the system over time. Any sealant that remains unreacted in the system will stay in the system to prevent future leaks. The Leak Saver will not affect system performance.

Easiest Injection Method:

We have packaged our sealant into the easiest, no fuss injector (Patent Pending). No more pressurizing cans or pump downs. This is a direct inject product.

This being said, our product reacts with air and humidity at the leak site to seal the leak. For systems suspected to have air and moisture, we recommend first using the Leak Saver Dry moisture remover or using the Leak Saver Ultimate 3 in 1 complete treatment.

The Leak Saver has 1/4" male and female connections that are common on HVAC and refrigeration systems. Both ends have valves that need to be activated in order to push the sealant in. 

For certain 410a systems, you may need a 410a 5/16" to 1/4" adapter. For automotive systems, you will need a 134a to 1/4" low side adapter.
